When Linfield's Wildcats play the UPS Loggers in Tacoma Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, it will be on Joe Peyton Field, one of the Northwest Conference's two real grass football fields. The other (inset photo) is Whitworth's Pine Bowl in Spokane.

Football and track & field fans watching action on Peyton Field and Dan Shotwell Track are seated in Baker Stadium.

The field honors legendary UPS grad - earned degrees in 1967 and 1971 -  Joe Peyton II, a Logger star student-athlete before becoming UPS track & field coach. A member of UPS Physical Education & Athletics faculty for 29 years, he retired in 1997 and died in 2003.

Peyton is a member of the UPS Athletic Hall of Fame as an athlete (football, basketball and track) and as a coach (track). He was an All-American football end and coached UPS track All-Americans.
