Coach Jim Ray’s baseball uniform #3 will be retired when he retires at end of 2017 Linfield baseball season

Jim Ray, the longest-serving assistant coach in Linfield athletics history, was honored between the 4/30/2017 GFU at Linfield College baseball doubleheader on the college’s Roy Helser Field in McMinnville.

Ray is in his 39th year coaching Linfield baseball. His uniform #3, which he wore initially as a Linfield player, will be retired when he joins Scott Carnahan, Linfield head baseball coach, in retirement at conclusion of the 2017 Linfield baseball season.

In addition to assisting Carnahan, he has been an assistant to former head coaches Ad Rutchman and Scott Brosius. A 1979 Linfield graduate, he lettered in baseball for the Rutschman-coached Wildcats in the 1977 and 1978 seasons.
