Students enhance sports broadcasts

Providing students with experiential opportunties in sports broadcasting, the Athletics communications office is collaborating with campus radio station KSLC to bring followers of Wildcat sports live coverage of a variety of home events.

During football season, senior Kevin Nelson joins with play-by-play announcer Bill Johnson and color analyst Dave Hansen in a new role as sideline reporter. Another senior, Sam Krier, is the audio engineer. The quartet’s radio soundtrack is merged with the live videocast, which airs as a pay-per-view event.

In tandem with Portland flagship station KPDQ, college-owned KSLC carries games throughout McMinnville at 90.3 FM.

In addition to football, Nelson and Krier help organize coverage and call the play-by-play for all home volleyball and soccer videocasts. Providing additional on-air voice work are junior April Meads, sophomore Kaesen Jackson, and freshmen Joe Stuart and Josh Cowell.

Sports information director Kelly Bird oversees Linfield’s sports broadcasting outreach in association with Dr. Michael Huntsberger, the KSLC faculty advisor.
