In December 1982, at McMinnville High’s Wortman Stadium, Linfield beat William Jewell College (Liberty, Mo.) 33-15 for the NAIA DII national football championship. (Legendary Maxwell Field was too muddy. That's why game held at the high school.)

On 6/17/2015, a member of the team told Wildcatville the banquet
date 12/11/1982 -- same date as the game
-- printed on the banquet program is not correct. He said, "The banquet
was definitely before the game." Therefore, the banquet was held
Friday,12/10/1982.
