Steve Thomas photo, text in 2007 book 'Inspired Pragmatism: An Illustrated History of Linfield College'

Steve Thomas is featured on page 84 of the book "Inspired Pragmatism: An Illustrated History of Linfield College," published in 2007.

The feature mentions a "small garden adjacent to Campbell Hall" with a "dedicatory plaque.' It's known today as the Steve Thomas Memorial Garden.

But, the text (and the plaque) provide no date when the garden was created/dedicated.

Text includes:

"Steve Thomas died in October 1977 from injuries suffered in a fall while pruning a maple tree on campus. A small garden adjacent to Campbell Hall contains a dedicatory plaque in his honor. Professor William I. Elliot of the English department composed this tribute to him:

"He invented clean geometry ...

"Nature never had a better teacher.
“His instruments cut exceeding fine
“And at any point on campus
“We always knew just where we stood:
“In the midst of Steve Thomas.
“Wherever we turn, he is here.
