Linfield football helmet decals over the years, from 1963 to present (this posted 12/2/2020)

Scanned JPGs of Linfield football helmet decals. These are not necessarily all the different variations of the decal -- first used in 1963 -- but it's close to complete.

First decals, made by Potter Decals of Eugene, Ore., were dip in water and affix. The first version of decal posted below.

Later decals (as they are today) include adhesive. First decals were cardinal, black and white. Later adhesive decals have added purple and dropped black.

During the era of Joe Smith as head coach, the Wildcat on the decal remained the same, but the Cat's eye were uncrossed.

Above Wildcat decal dip in water version used first on Linfield football helmets in 1963. Decal made by Potter Decal, Eugene. That decal was sold to students and others in the Linfield Bookstore. Linfield football initially ordered decals for its helmets from the bookstore. Later, presumable, Linfield football ordered its decals directly from Potter.  Paul Durham was head coach. Note cardinal, black and white.

Above Wildcat decal(s) during time Ad Rutcshman as head coach. When he started in 1968 the decals were still the dip in water version. But within a year or two adhesive versions were used. Cardinal, black and white.

Above Wildcat decal tweaked at request of Coach Ed Langsdorf. Note introduction of purple.  Black eliminated.
