A look back at the college’s yearbooks: McMinnville College ‘Oak Leaves,’ Linfield College ‘Oak Leaves’, Linfield College ‘Linview’

McMinnville College was founded in 1885.

McMinnville College became Linfield College in 1922.

The first and last McMinnville College Oak Leaves yearbook was published in 1921, that was in the 1920-1921 academic year. In the 1921-1922 academic year, the college started as Linfield. On Jan. 10, 1922, it was announced that because of a financial gift (property in Spokane, Wash. given by Mrs. Linfield), the college was renamed Linfield (in honor of her deceased husband, a Baptist pastor).

Student yearbooks (also called “annuals”) at McMinnville College/Linfield College have been called Oak Leaves except for those in 1990, 1992 and 1993 which were Linview.

Yearbooks have not been issued every year of the college’s existence.

Here are the Linfield yearbooks on the shelf at Linfield’s Nicholson Library as of 9/17/2018 when Wildcatville visited the library and took a look:

(Remember that the yearbooks cover an academic year which starts in the fall of one year and concludes in the spring/summer of the next year. Thus, if you are looking for something which happened in the 1955-1956 school year, for example, you need to look at the 1956 "Oak Leaves." If you are interested in the 1981 football season, you need to look at the 1982 "Oak Leaves.")
